Boys Golfer Jayden Yeo Named Finalist in BBB Ethical Torch Essay Scholarship Contest
Fairmont Preparatory Academy is proud to announce that Jayden Yeo has been named a finalist in the Better Business Bureau's Ethical Torch Essay Scholarship Contest for his winning submission, "Golf Behind Closed Doors."
In his essay, Jayden reflects on a pivotal moment during a golf match when he was faced with a choice between personal advantage and doing what was right. He chose to correct a scoring error, even though it meant forfeiting an opportunity to benefit from the mistake. That decision, made without fanfare or expectation of recognition, underscores Jayden's deep commitment to honesty and ethical conduct.
"Integrity isn't just about doing what's right when others are watching," Jayden wrote. "It's about holding yourself accountable, even when no one else will know."
Jayden's actions reflect the values at the heart of the Fairmont Prep community, demonstrating true Husky pride in the classroom, on the golf course, and beyond. His example reminds us that character is defined not only by words but by the choices we make when it matters most.
Jayden and the other scholarship recipients will be honored at the BBB's Torch for Ethics Awards next week, where their essays will be celebrated for their insight and impact. The winning submissions will also be published on the Better Business Bureau website in the coming days.
