Coach Mason has led Fairmont Preparatory Academy’s esports program for the past four years, bringing both competitive insight and infectious enthusiasm to one of the school’s fastest-growing athletic offerings. An active member of the CIF Esports Rules Committee for League of Legends, Coach Mason helps shape statewide competitive standards while guiding Fairmont’s athletes through high-level play and sportsmanship.

With over a decade of experience playing League of Legends, plus a long history of competitive gaming across multiple titles, Coach Mason brings a deep strategic understanding to his coaching. His leadership supports Fairmont’s esports athletes as they compete in three major CIF-sanctioned titles—League of Legends, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Rocket League—as well as a wide range of auxiliary leagues that provide additional opportunities for student involvement.

Beyond the screen, Coach Mason is passionate about expanding what athletics can mean for students. A former basketball player of nearly 15 years and a lifelong advocate for diverse sporting experiences, he believes that esports fosters teamwork, discipline, and community in ways that mirror traditional athletics. When he’s not coaching or analyzing gameplay, he enjoys spending time with his two beloved cats.
